Jewish refugees wanted for a photographic project

Mark Griffiths is an award winning photographer based in Cardiff and is looking for Jewish refugees or relatives to photograph in our Community Centre for an upcoming project about those that survived the holocaust and settled in Wales.

If you are a Jewish refugee or have a relative/know someone that is I want to hear your stories. This will be a collaborative project working in conjunction with the Association of Jewish Refugees and Kathryn Preveser.

The main aims of this project are as follows:

  1. To educate and engage with younger generations by presenting the work in schools nationwide.
  2. Bringing Jewish and non-Jewish communities together at each photographic gathering and building relationships in local communities as well as raising the profile of the Association of Jewish Refugees.
  3. Collaborating with the Jewish community to produce a coherent and accurate depiction/narrative of those photographed.

What Mark needs

20 minutes with each willing participant to photograph in his studio.
Please bring any memorabilia that relates to your evacuation e.g photographs, papers, suit cases, kinder transport, clothes. Feel free to write about your experiences so he can use them with the images.

Where and When

He will be photographing from 12:30 until 17:30 on Sunday 13th May at Cathays Community Centre, 36 – 38 Cathays Terrace, Cardiff, CF24 4HX.
